Dr. Yuh-Pyng Sher's Lab
Research Field
- Professor Yuh-Pyng Sher's research endeavors center on unraveling the mechanisms crucial for cancer metastasis in diverse cancer types, such as lung cancer, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and pancreatic cancer. Employing a multidisciplinary approach, Professor Sher's team integrates biochemical methods, clinical studies, and experimental mouse models to comprehensively address these challenges and develop promising cancer treatments with translational potential.
- A significant focus of Professor Sher's recent research has been on elucidating the mechanisms governing KRAS activity, particularly in the context of KRAS protein degradation. This cutting-edge research has culminated in a publication in Nature Cancer in 2024. Over the past decade, Professor Sher has successfully guided four students to attain their Ph.D. degrees. To date, three doctoral students and one master's student have conducted their research under Professor Sher's mentorship. Professor Sher's laboratory warmly welcomes students or research fellows who harbor a fervent passion for cancer research, offering an opportunity to contribute to and thrive in the dynamic research environment cultivated by the team.
- We foster a collaborative environment that nurtures independent, creative research and encourages critical thinking. We aim to establish an inspiring and inclusive research setting where individuals can thrive in their careers. Committed to innovation and translational research, we seek to make meaningful contributions to scientific knowledge and its practical applications.
- Our research efforts are generously supported by various organizations, including CMU&H, the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), and the National Health Research Institute (NHRI). These collaborations and financial backing underscore our commitment to advancing research excellence and addressing key challenges in health and science.
