Fu Jen Catholic University (FJCU) was founded in 1925 in Beijing at the request of Pope Pius XI and re-established in Taiwan in 1961 at the request of Pope John XXIII, its name means "assistance" and "benevolence". The university motto, Veritas, Bonitas, Pulchritudo, Sanctitas in Latin, expresses four ideals: truth, goodness, beauty and sanctity. The University has dual identities of a global Catholic foundation and the best private comprehensive university (with university founded Hospital) in Taiwan. With the spirit of Christ's love and in the pursuit of Fu Jen spirit, the University is committed to cultivating talents, professional innovation and promoting sustainable development with social responsibility and global impact for a well-being society. The university at present comprises 12 colleges and recent 4 years founded FJCU hospital with more than 25,000 students. FJCU has a significant international network for faculties and students exchange for research, teaching, and inviting the world-renowned scholars to Fu Jen to share their perspectives. FJCU has two different roles, first, being the only Catholic university directly affiliated with the Holy See in Chinese societies, it fulfills the mission to serve society and spread love. Second, being the best private comprehensive university in Taiwan in terms of student talent incubation, it strives for excellence and growth in teaching, research, industry integration, local development, innovation, and internationalization. Fu Jen university echo Pope Francis’s Encyclical: Laudato si’ published by 2015 , with UN SDGs published, Fu Jen Sustainability Committee established, 2019 first Sustainability Report published, 2020 Sustainable Contextual planning forming , the Middle Range university Development Plan start planning, Laudato si’ 7 goals published, 2021 to 2022 Introduce the University lectures and research inquiry to SDGs connect, with on and out campus projects to enhance FJCU’s social responsibility and impact. FJCU continues to carry out its mission as well as international and social impact by linking its efforts to sustainable development goals (SDGs) in order to fulfill its vision of glocalization, to strengthen industry-academia collaborations and to integrate the innovative medical products of the university’s affiliated hospital. Fu Jen Catholic University, along with National Tsing Hua University, had the chance to work on the SPARK program led by the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as the large-scale GLORIA program with National Tsing Hua University and National Chengchi University. The performance and innovation from the collaboration with Top scientists between Taiwan and overseas for their technology transferred in the hope of benefiting all corners of the world. With regard to our smart technology products, we will also see more extensive collaborations with companies in the local New Taipei Industrial Park by helping them market those products internationally, expand their visibility, and form larger enterprises.
