Chemical Engineering

Introduction

I am originally from the United States. I first came to Taiwan in the summer of 2005 as a researcher and joined the faculty of the department of chemical engineering in 2009. When I'm not at work I enjoy spending time with my wife and children.

Process Systems Engineering deals with chemical process design, control and optimization. The PSE lab at NTU comprises four faculty (Prof. Cheng-Liang Chen, Prof. Jeffrey D. Ward, Prof. Bor-Yih Yu and Prof. I-Lung Chien
(emeritus)) and their students.

Research Topics
  • Design of energy-efficient distillation processes
  • Design of process for plastic waste recycling by pyrolysis
  • Design and optimization of crystallization/filtration processes using the discrete element method
