Prof. Whang obtained his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is dedicated to research and teaching in the fields of environmental biotechnology and molecular biology, mathematical modeling of biological systems, wastewater biotreatment, renewable bioenergy, and environmental microbial ecology.
The Environmental Biotechnology Research Laboratory primarily utilizes biotechnology to address environmental-related issues. It combines traditional biotechnology with the latest molecular biology techniques to tackle international and domestic environmental challenges, such as pollution control and renewable energy, which are crucial in Taiwan.
