Dr. Hsu has been teaching at the Department of Information Management, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (NYUST), Taiwan since 1993 and became a full professor in 2004. He was the Chairman of the department from 2000 to 2003. He is the director of the International Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence, NYUST since 2020. Dr. Hsu obtained a Ph.D. degree in computer science from Northwestern University, USA in 1992 and has published papers in top-tier international journals of information systems, including IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, and ACM Transactions on Asian Language Information Processing. He was awarded an excellent researcher of the NYUST in 2005 and 2006. His research interests include machine learning, data mining, artificial intelligence, and big data.

Big Data Research Center (BDRC) is in the Dept. of Information of National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Taiwan. BDRC focuses on developing AI techniques and applying AI techniques to solve practical problems from areas like manufacturing and medicine.
