Green Technology and Sustainable Energy Lab
Research Field
Yi-Li Lin is currently a distinguished professor in the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology in Taiwan. She received her B.S. in civil engineering and her Ph. D. in environmental engineering from the National Taiwan University. Yi-Li has been to the Stanford University as a visiting scholar in the department of civil and environmental engineering. Her research is focused on physical and chemical processes for water treatment and water recovery as well as developing torrefaction technology for renewable energy recovery from waste biomass. She has published over 130 high quality SCI papers with h-index of 37 and been selected as Top 2% scientists of the world (2020-2022, single year).
Development of green technology for sustainable water and energy resource, including thin-film-composite (TFC) membrane fabrication and modification for forward osmosis (FO), nanofiltration (NF) and reverse osmosis (RO), waste biomass extraction for valuable platform chemicals and conversion to renewable energy using torrefaction technology.
My current research topics include the development of highly selective but low-energy-consumption forward osmosis (FO) membranes and water recycling technology, the extraction of high-value platform chemicals from waste biomass and the production of renewable energy through torrefaction to obtain high quality biochar.
2014-present: NSC/MOST Special Outstanding Talent Award
2014-present: NKUST Special Outstanding Talent Award (Research)
2020-2022: Top 2% Scientists of the World (Single year)
2022-present: NKUST Special Outstanding Talent Award (Teaching)
2023-2205: Distinguished Professor in NKUST
I plan to recruit undergraduate, master, or early-stage doctoral students from relevant disciplines in various countries for a 3 month research training program. I will specifically consider (but not restrict) candidates from the Department of Environmental Engineering, Chemical engineering, and Chemistry. The goal of this program is to cultivate students' research capabilities and expand opportunities for international exchange between two universities. The qualified applicants are encouraged to explore their interest for pursuing further academic degree(s) in Taiwan.
