Medical Engineering

Introduction

Dr. Hung-Chih Chang received his bachelor's and master's degrees in Mold and Die Engineering from the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology in Taiwan from 2006 to 2012. In 2017, he received funding from the Ministry of Education and spent one year as a visiting scholar at the Minnesota Dental Research Center for Biomaterials and Biomechanics Laboratory in America, gaining valuable study experience abroad. He then returned to Taiwan and completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from National Cheng Kung University in 2019. Currently, Dr. Chang is an assistant professor in the Department of Medical Equipment Development and Application at Hung Kuang University in Taichung, Taiwan. His research focuses on biomechanics, with a particular emphasis on dentistry and orthopaedic. Dr. Chang is known for his easy-going personality and patience, as he always takes the time to teach students step by step and discuss any problems they may have. He is also the director of the Medical Reverse Engineering and Mechanical Analysis Lab, which specializes in biomechanical analysis, medical 3D model reconstruction, 3D scanning and printing, rapid tooling development, and finite element analysis. Hung Kuang University is a renowned institution in Taichung that was founded in 1967. It currently has four colleges and twenty departments. Additionally, the university has strong ties with its affiliated hospital, Kuang Tien General Hospital. This allows professors and students at Hung Kuang to have access to abundant resources for medical research.

The Lab is called Medical Reverse Engineering and Mechanical Analysis Lab, which specializes in biomechanical analysis, medical 3D model reconstruction, 3D scanning and printing, rapid tooling development, and finite element analysis.
