Environmental Engineering

Introduction

Dr. Lin's research fields fell into solid-liquid separation in water and wastewater treatment using physico-chemical technology as well as water quality management on drinking water supply system. His current research mostly focus on the innovative application of oxidation, coagulation and membrane separation process for the removal of pollutants (e.g., particulate, NOM and AOM) in water treatment as well as the development of up-to-date technologies for water quality monitoring.

The Water Environment Technology Research Laboratory (WET Laboratory) was established in August 2016. WET Laboratory uses environmental physics, chemistry and biotechnology to solve water pollution problems affecting the safety of drinking water for the general public and focuses on the research and development of high-efficiency water purification technologies (including oxidative coagulation and dosing technology, thin film filtration and separation technology, and electrochemical adsorption and oxidation technology). It also explores water resources management issues, develops intelligent water management technologies, assists the government in formulating water quality management policies, improves people's livelihood and industrial water use, and provides counseling to industries to enhance their water management efficiency.

Research Topics

Water treatment (High performance coagulants, automatic coagulation dosing system, Algae laden water treatment)
Water quality management (algae-derived disinfection by-products formation)
Carbon and energy management (Carbon footprint evaluation)
Advanced electrochemistry water treatment (electrocoagulation, advanced oxidation process, electro-fenton, capacitive deionization)
