Introduction

Dr. Shing-Yi Suen received her B.S. (1987) and M.S. (1989) from National Taiwan University, and Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin-Madison (1994), all in Chemical Engineering. She joined National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) as an associate professor in 1994 and was promoted to a full professor in 2000. She served as the Chair of Chemical Engineering Department (2009-2011) and the Vice Dean of Engineering College (2011-2013) at NCHU. Currently, Dr. Suen is a deputy editor for Journal of the Taiwanese Institute of Chemical Engineers (indexed by SCI) and the editorial board member for Membranes (indexed by SCI) and Journal of Chemical Engineering and Industrial Biotechnology (Universiti Malaysia Pahang).

The research works in the lab of Dr. Shing-Yi Suen focus on the design of special-shaped or eco-friendly fillers, preparation and characterization of mixed matrix membranes, and their applications in pervaporation, membrane distillation, gas separation, and adsorption processes.
