Introduction

Ping-Kuei Chen is an associate professor at the Department of Diplomacy, National Chengchi University, Taiwan. He is currently the director of Center for India Studies in College of International Relations, NCCU. He received Ph.D. from the Department of Government and Politics, University of Maryland, College Park.  His research interests include conflict studies, security alliance, deterrence, and coercive bargaining. He also develops an interest in governance of fintech issues in recent years. 
 

Financial innovation and technological evolution are shaping economic and social changes, which has brought significant impact, challenges, and reflections on legal norms and regulatory policies, and also drew urgent needs for interdisciplinary dialogue and cooperation between law and other fields such as finance, economy, science, technology, and society. In response to this trend, the Center aims to bring together academic and research experts, government officials, and industry professionals in related fields to conduct systematic and continuous research on these issues and to put forward policy, legal and regulatory recommendations to enhance social welfare.

Initiated by six faculty members of the College of Law NCCU, the Center will successively invite more faculty members, experts, and scholars from outside to join. The members are Associate Professor Chin-Wen Wu, Distinguished Professor of Law Richard Li-dar Wang, Associate Professor Ping-Kuei Chen, Professor Cheng-Fong Chou, Associate Professor Ting-Chi Liu, Assistant Professor Po Liang Chen, Assistant Professor Ting-Hsien Cheng of NCU and Associate Professor Cheng-Yun Tsang of Manash University Melbourne.


Research Topics

The mentor's research interests include armed conflicts, security alliance, deterrence, global governance, financial regulatory innovation. The recent research focus include the following: 

  1. Central Bank Digital Currency 
  2. Regtech/ Suptech development in developing countries with a focus on India
  3. AI in International Relations, particularly the role of AI in policy-making process. The main focus is security policies.
  4. Global financial regulatory harmonization.  
  5. Financial innovation in Global South
