Dr. Yoong Kit Leong, currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Chemical and Materials Engineering Department at Tunghai University, Taiwan, is an enthusiastic scholar with a profound academic background. Having earned his B.S. degree in 2013 and his Ph.D. in 2018 from the University of Nottingham, Dr. Leong has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication to advancing knowledge in various domains.

His scholarly contributions are evidenced by an impressive 5-year publication portfolio of 45 peer-reviewed international journal papers in prestigious journals indexed by SCI, showcasing his expertise in areas such as biochemical technology, microalgal biotechnology, renewable bioenergy, and wastewater treatment. AI Circular Economy Laboratory welcomes interested international students in doing internship at Tunghai University. Our main research interest is to develop net-zero carbon emission biotechnology, including i) microalgal biorefinery platform (protein, lipids, bioactive pigments, etc.), ii) renewable bioenergy production (biodiesel, biohydrogen, etc.), and iii) waste stream/byproducts valorization to value-added product.

Job Description

The accepted intern will have the opportunity to learn and improve their experimental skills in (i) microbial biotechnology; (ii) microalgal biorefinery; (iii) “waste-to-fuel” circular economy; (iv) continuous-mode or pilot-scale bioreactor operation.

Preferred Intern Education Level

International graduate students with an engineering/science background are welcome.
