Introduction

Dr. Hsieh has received her doctoral and postdoctoral training in Public Health in Taipei Medical University. Currently, she is a professor at the Ph.D. Program in Medical Neuroscience at Taipei Medical University (TMU), focusing on utilizing epidemiological methods to establish large-scale cohort and investigating risk factors and molecular or genetic biomarkers related to neurodegenerative diseases.

Academic Experiences

2022-present Professor, PhD program in Medical Neuroscience, Taipei Medical University, Taipei, Taiwan

2017-2022    Associate Professor, PhD Program for Neural Regenerative Medicine, Taipei Medical University, Taipei, Taiwan

2013-2017     Assistant Professor, PhD Program for Neural Regenerative Medicine, Taipei Medical University, Taipei, Taiwan

2009-2013    Postdoctoral Fellow, School of Public Health, Taipei Medical University, Taipei, Taiwan

2010-2011      Visiting Scholar, Boston University, MA, USA

2011-2012      Visiting Scholar, City of Hope, CA, USA

Dr. Hsieh's  lab specializes in extensive database analysis, including large-scale cohort database, national registries, enabling in-depth exploration into the potential impact of risk assessment, cardiovascular epidemiology, and molecular and genetic epidemiology. In addition, Dr. Hsieh's research is at the forefront of applying epidemiological methodologies combined with cutting-edge technologies to discover novel biomarkers of complex processes of adverse stroke outcomes.  By revealing these key risk factors and identifying relevant biomarkers, our study profoundly improves our understanding of the adverse consequences of stroke and enables the identification of high-risk individuals. We are particularly focused on utilizing these important biomarkers to develop risk prediction models for adverse stroke prognosis.

Research Topics

Determinants and Prognostic Factors of stroke unfavorable outcomes / neurodegenerative diseases

  • Genetic variants in risk of stroke and its unfavorable outcomes
  • polygenic risk scores of neurodegenerative diseases

Long-term risk assessment of post-stroke cognitive impairment

  • Integrating –Omics information
  • Imaging data
  • Blood biomarkers
