School of Pharmacy, National Taiwan University

Introduction

Dr. Chia-Ron Yang received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology at the National Taiwan University in 2004. After that, he completed his postdoctoral training at the NTU and College of Georgia, USA. He is currently a Professor at the School of Pharmacy, National Taiwan University, Taiwan. He is dedicated to drug discovery, pharmacology, drug efficacy evaluation, as well as investigating the mechanism of action. Dr. Yang focuses on developing novel small-molecule drugs for rare diseases and unmet clinical needs. He has discovered two drug candidates, including one CDK8 inhibitor in fibrotic disease and one HDAC6 inhibitor in cancer/neurodegenerative disease at the pre-IND enabling stage. The selective HDAC6 inhibitor will finish IND-enabling studies in Q3 2024 and has been licensed to a startup company.

The research in this laboratory focuses on developing novel small-molecule drugs for rare diseases and unmet clinical needs. Current research projects include anti-fibrotic and anti-melanogenesis studies for small molecular compounds and natural products.
