He was authored and co-authored in more than 175+ SCI publications, 2 book, 150 international and national conference presentations, and 50 invited keynote
speaker lectures at international conferences. His current H-index is 38, with citations of 5200+. Currently, he is also acting as Associate Editor for Analytical Chemistry section, Frontiers in Chemistry (IF-5.5), Review Editor for Water and Wastewater Management section, and Frontiers in Environmental Science (IF:4.58). Editorial Panel Member in the journal – Ecronicon Chemistry Journal (open access, UK) and Editorial Board Member in the journal – Maejo International Journal of Energy and Environmental Communication. Edited several special issues in journals, including Bioresource Technology (ScienceDirect, IF-11), 3Biotech (Springer, IF 3), Frontiers in Public Health (Frontiers, IF 6.5), International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (MDPI, IF 4.6). Also, Being Peer-Reviewer in several reputed scientific journals in analytical chemistry, environmental sciences, nanomaterials, and green energy field journals.

Prof. Vinoth Kumar has also obtained the prestigious Taiwan Plum-Blossom Permanent Resident Card for the special academic and industrial contributions/services to Taiwan. Prof. Vinoth Kumar has been listed as one of the World’s Top 2% of Scientists for the three consecutive years (since 2020 and till), representing the KMU’s top 2% of the most-cited scientists’ ranking in Chemistry-Analytical, and Energy disciplines. My academic and industrial experiences have prepared me to be an influential research principal investigator and instructor in Department of Medicinal and Applied Chemistry at KMU. I  am also serving as Research Faculty/Co-Principal Investigator in the Research Center for Precision Environmental Medicine, College of Medicine, KMU, since 2017 and as a Joint-Faculty for the PhD Program in Environmental and Occupational Medicine, College of Medicine, KMU since 2019.

Meanwhile, I have also been serving as a Jointly Appointed Professor in the Department of Chemistry, National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) since 2020, and also serving as a Research Fellow at the Center for Emerging Contaminants, Institute of Environmental Engineering, NSYSU since 2022. In addition, I am also serving as a Jointly Appointed Professor in the PhD Program of Aquatic Science & Technology, College of Hydrosphere Science, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST), Taiwan. I also been serving as a review committee member/evaluator of the Cosmetics and Medical Devices Division, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA), Taiwan, since 2018.

Prof. Kumar established a Nano & Green Analytical Technology (NGAT) Laboratory in the Department of Medicinal and Applied Chemistry, KMU, in August 2016 with a keen multidisciplinary research interest mainly focusing on two technologies, namely, 1) green analytical technology (GAT) where we devoted on the research of developments of green analytical methodologies, including green sample preparation techniques, advanced chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques, electrochemical techniques and analytical method developments and application towards clinical, food, drugs, and environmental analysis. And, another focus on 2) nanotechnology, where we intend on the design and developments of novel sustainable nanomaterials for various analytical (microextraction techniques, electrochemical sensors), environmental (pollutant degradation), and energy (fuel cell, supercapacitor, biofuel, bioenergy) applications.

Research Topics

We have developed and reported several novel green sample preparation techniques/green analytical methodologies, including in-syringe-based semi-automated fast extraction techniques, semi-automated nanomaterial-based pipette-tip micro-solid phase extraction (µSPE) techniques, nanomaterial-coated cellulose paper based SPE techniques, vortex-assisted salt-induced liquid-liquid microextraction techniques for various analysis applications such as betel nut toxic ingredients analysis, omega fatty acids biomonitoring, biometabolites/biomonitoring of environmental exposures, drug monitoring, and other environmental contaminants analysis. Moreover, we also developed several novel nanomaterials (MXene, 2D-GCN, Carbon materials) based chemical sensors and biosensors for emerging pollutants or biomolecules for rapid and sensitive determinations. The experimental developments and applications from our research works can be potentially used as an alternative analytical tool in various analytical sectors/companies for the analysis and quality control of target compounds in complex samples. Also, these results can be highly useful to ensure people’s exposure to toxins in Taiwan to protect public health and safety and also helpful to a reassessment of the toxic compounds in the environment and to project from the associated human health risks in Taiwan.
