Plasma Innovations Lab. is highly developing the plasma technology for all kinds of the application, especially for the industries. The general plasma systems operated under low pressure are necessarily required to utilize vacuum chamber and pumping systems, which will have the cost issue for the manufacture industries. Much attention has been paid to utilize the plasma at atmospheric pressure due to possible advantages of eliminating an expensive vacuum system, on-line processing capabilities, high efficiency, and the scalability to a larger area. Typical atmospheric pressure plasma systems are arc plasma torches, corona discharges, dielectric barrier discharges (DBD), atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ) and microplasma. The electrical energy applied from plasma reactor dissociates the inert gas into electrons, free radicals, ions, photons, and metastable species. So far, we have developed the fixed jet head and rotating (tornado-type) jet head for employing in various applications. Besides, integrating with the robotic arm and automation control unit was also investigated for treating 3D objects.
According to the issues of ESG and SDGs, plasma offers high energetic particles which can be used to collide the surface for further chemcial reaction and physical behavior (iombardment). It is so called Plasma-Surface Interaction, that can be used to replace the traditional manufacture process based on wet chemicl methods. This new technogy can be employed to surface treatment, coating, and other applications. Our lab. is always thinking the new ideas for the proposed process to give the total solution toward the problems from the industries. The research topics are described as the attached link:
