In the past few years, my lab has extremely focused on five individual research topics, 1) investigating key molecule that regulates TNBC metastasis through my unique in vivo breast cancer metastasis animal model; 2) using lentivirus-carry CRISPR/Cas9 gene knockout (KO) model to identify critical oncogenes in thyroid, breast and leukemia cancers; 3) optimizing non-invasive apoptosis/autophagy detection sensor (NIADS) for clinical precision medicine evaluation; 4) establishing exosome-free cancer cells to investigate exosome mediates cellular communication in microenvironment and 5) establishing top-notch CRISPR KO screening library to identify essential oncogenic and tumor suppressive genes during cancer development. To support these research directions, I have collected several tumor and adjacent normal paired tissue biobank, composed of thyroid, breast, leukemia, head and neck cancers for gene expression analysis. In addition, primary culture of these clinical cancer and normal tissues were also established for further ex-vivo evaluation. Next, using our expertise of gene KO or overexpression, we can understand the function of interest genes in cancers (Manipulation). Finally, all the experimental information will be confirmed either in our unique highly metastatic breast animal model, or in ex-vivo evaluation through isolated primary culture cancer cells.
