Introduction

Dr. Chuan-Ming Yeh currently holds the position of Assistant Professor at the Institute of Molecular Biology, National Chung Hsing University. He earned his PhD degree from the Department of Life Sciences at National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan in 2006. During his PhD studies, he also served as an adjunct lecturer at the National University of Tainan and Shu-Te University. In addition, he was invited by Professor Satoshi Ogihara at Osaka University, Japan, to participate in the International Student Exchange Program and conducted research in the lab lead by Professor Ichiro Terashima and Professor Shingo Takagi. After receiving his PhD degree, he continued his academic journey as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the same department for three months. His performance led to being awarded the Academia Sinica Postdoctoral Fellowship twice, during which he worked at the Agriculture Biotechnology Research Center in Academia Sinica from October 2006 to December 2010.
To broaden his global perspective, he embarked on postdoctoral research in Japan starting in 2011. He secured fellowships from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) for a period of three years. Prior to completing his JSPS fellowship, he was recruited by Saitama University, where he served as an Assistant Professor in the Area of Green and Environmental Innovation of the Graduate School of Science and Engineering from 2014 to 2019. In August 2019, he returned to Taiwan and held the position of Guest Assistant Professor at the Institute of Tropical Plant Sciences and Microbiology in National Cheng Kung University before embarking on his current career.

The lab currently consists of one research assistant, one PhD student, and nine Master's students. Additionally, we will soon welcome two Japanese exchange students to join the lab. We have previously had a Master's degree student from Thailand. Furthermore, we have established research collaborations with various countries and annually host foreign professors and researchers, making the lab an international hub.

Research Topics

We mainly focus on two research projects of “Plant nutrient homeostasis and adaptive mechanism” and “Genomics and functional genomics of orchids”. In addition, we pay some attention to “Identification of plant growth-promoting microbes by Metagenomic approach” and “Identification of plant transcription factors that regulate biotic and abiotic stress tolerance”.
