Ray-Guang Cheng got his Ph.D. in 1996. From 1997 to 2000, he was a researcher and a project leader with Advance Technology Center, Computer and Communication Laboratories, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Taiwan, as a Researcher and a Project Leader. From 2000 to 2003, he joined BenQ Mobile System, Inc., Taiwan, as a Senior Manager of the R&D Division. He is currently a Director of the Computer Center and a Distinguished Professor at the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), Taiwan. He holds the IEEE Wireless Communication Professional (WCP) Certification, 18 U.S. patents, and more than 30 IEEE/3GPP standard contributions. He has been the Head of the Joint NTUST-EURECOM Open5G Lab since 2019 and the OSC Taiwan Lab. (https://wiki.o-ran-sc.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=44139283) since 2022.
Welcome to Broadband Multimedia Wireless Laboratory at NTUST (BMW Lab.@NTUST).
We offer intern opportunities for self-disciplined students interested in studying at NTUST. During the internship, we hope you can learn social, self-learning, decision-making, adaptability, and time management skills. The on-site intern is selected mainly based on your HackMD for the pre-intern and GPA. Try demonstrating your genuine interest in the topics you choose in your pre-intern report. Students with good programming skills (C/C++/Python) and who intend to take the MS program in NTUST will also have a higher priority. Without a doubt, you will face many challenges during the internship. Prof. Randy Pasuch showed some tips which may be useful for you.
Try to find something you are interested in. Good luck!

We aim to use the open-source modules provided by OSC and OAI to build up E2E radio access networks (RANs) as a research platform for next-generation cellular networks. We focus on two open-source RAN projects:
- Open source code from O-RAN Software Community (OSC): O-DU High, Fronthaul, RIC xAPP, RIC Platform
- Open source code from OpenAirInterface (OAI)
The O-RAN (Open Radio Access Network) Alliance is a global industry consortium that aims to drive the mobile industry towards an ecosystem of innovative, multi-vendor, interoperable, and autonomous RAN, with reduced cost, improved performance, and greater agility. Intelligence and openness and two core principles of the O-RAN Alliance. O-RAN Software Community (OSC) is an open-source project collaborated by O-RAN Alliance and Linux Foundation, aiming to develop reference software components based on 3GPP and O-RAN Alliance specifications. Three OSC Community Laboratories (https://wiki.o-ran-sc.org/display/IAT/OSC+Community+Labs) were built to speed up the integration and interoperability testing among different projects. In this talk, we will briefly introduce the architecture of the O-RAN Alliance and the ongoing projects of the OSC. We are hosting the OSC Taiwan Lab.
Job item 1: Use free5GC + OAI CU + OSC O-DU + OAI L1 + OSC fronthaul + LiteON RU to do the test.
