Introduction

Dr. Yu-Ren Wu is a Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the National Central University, Taiwan. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from National Chung Cheng University in 2007. His research focuses on gearings, screw compressors, dynamic modeling, engineering optimization, and machine learning. Dr. Wu has received several prestigious awards, including the NTSC Ta-You Wu Memorial Award in 2020, the Distinguished Young Scholar Award, and the Distinguished Professor title from NCU in 2021. He has significantly contributed to industry problem-solving and technology transfer, earning him an Award for Excellent Contributions in Technology Transfer and a Gold Award in the 17th HIWIN Mechanical Thesis Competition. In 2022, he was elected as a committee member of the IFToMM Technical Committee for Gearing and Transmissions. Currently, he is the president of the Chinese Society of Mechanism and Machine Theory (CSMMT), a member organization of IFToMM.

The Precision Transmission Laboratory of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at National Central University was established in 2014. The laboratory is led by Dr. Yu-Jen Wu, who also serves as the supervising professor. The primary research areas include gear design, gear machining methods, dynamic load analysis of mechanical systems, vibration and noise measurement and analysis, as well as FEM and MBD simulation and applications.

Currently, the laboratory collaborates with many well-known companies in Taiwan through industry-academia partnerships. Graduate students actively assist partner companies in solving technical challenges and use these projects as the basis for their research publications, integrating both academic and practical aspects.

The laboratory consists of approximately 20 members, with nearly two-fifths being international degree-seeking students, fostering an excellent environment for international exchange and collaboration.
