Research Field
Kan Wu is a Professor in the Department of Industrial & Business Management at Chang Gung University in Taiwan and concurrently serves as the director of the Business Analysis Research Center. He received the B.S. degree from National Tsinghua University, M.S. degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and Ph.D. degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. He has ten years of experience in the semiconductor industry, from a consultant to an IE manager. He has guided the development of scheduling and dispatching systems in Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company and ramped up a 300mm DRAM fab for Inotera Memories. After obtaining his Ph.D. degree, he was the CTO and founding team member of a startup company in the US and joined Singapore Nanyang Technological University as an assistant professor in 2010. His PhD dissertation was awarded the 3rd place for the IIE Pritsker Doctoral Dissertation Award. His research interests are primarily in the areas of queueing theory, with applications in the performance evaluation of supply chains and manufacturing systems.
The Business Analytics Research Center of Chang Gung University's College of Management was established in November 2021. The founding concept of the center aims to integrate in-depth academic research and practical application in the fields of business management, clinical healthcare, and health services through the utilization of big data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The goal is to make tangible contributions to academia and society. With the development of the concept and technologies of Industry 4.0, we strive to foster smart healthcare and intelligent manufacturing, thereby enhancing the research capabilities of Chang Gung University and the productivity and competitiveness of related enterprises. Through the efforts of the center, we aspire to achieve significant breakthroughs in these areas and provide valuable insights for future development.
