Introduction

I received PhD degree from Niigata University in Japan in 2000. After postdoc and faculty positions in Japan, I moved to Taiwan and joined Institute of Molecular Medicine, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan as a project assistant professor. I was promoted as a regular faculty in the institute in 2019.

Our current research interests are SOS response, anti-phage defense, restriction-modification etc. We currently study for Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis as model bacteria, but also use others. Even in E. coli, not only K-12 strains, but also study for enterohemorrhagic and urinary tract infectious E. coli. Our research approach is based on bacterial genetics, molecular biology, cellular biology etc. Because I myself is foreigner, my lab is mixed cultured laboratory joining people who are coming from different countries and fields.
