Introduction

Wanjiun Liao is a highly esteemed academic who currently holds the position of Chair Professor at National Taiwan University (NTU) and is also the National Chair Professor of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Taiwan. She has held several other prominent positions in academia, including the Department Chair of Electrical Engineering and the Provost of National Taiwan University. In addition, she has also served as the Director General of the Department of Engineering and Technologies, Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) in Taiwan. Currently, she is serving as the Executive Vice President of National Taiwan University. Professor Liao has been very active in IEEE, ComSoc, and VTS, serving as IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer (2011-2012), VTS Distinguished Lecturer (since July2023), Associate Editors of IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications (2003-2010),IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (2004-2007), IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing (since 2020), Senior Editor of IEEE Systems Journal (since 2020), Steering Committee of IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, IEEE ComSoc Chair of Distinguished Lecturer Selection Committee (2020-2021), IEEE Fellow Committee (2013-2015) and IEEE ComSoc Fellow Evaluation Committee (2016-2018). Professor Liao has helped Taiwan government develop blockchain-based vehicle-to-X systems, which have been deployed in multiple cities in Taiwan to achieve Mobility-as-a-Service. She has also cooperated with Chunghwa Telecom, the largest telecom operator in Taiwan, to develop technologies and vertical application solutions for private 5G networks and export them to different countries, particularly in Southeast Asia. Professor Liao has served as PI for several key national-wide programs in Taiwan and received numerous awards and recognitions from various organizations including IEEE and ACM. She is a Fellow of the IEEE.

The supervisor professor of this laboratory is Dr. Wanjun Liao.

Research interests focus mainly on designing and analyzing network protocols to support wireless multimedia, cloud-edge computing, and green communications. On-going research includes:
(1)  Key technologies for 5G/6G wireless networks, edge computing, AI for networking, LEO satellite and 3D coverage networking
(2) Multimedia networking: wireless 3D and 5G/6G XR streaming
(3) Blockchain technologies: privacy-preserving, and layer two solution
(4) AIoT: data science and engineering

The laboratory has cooperation plans with the Ministry of Enterprise and Science and Technology to develop towards cutting-edge communications. The research purpose of this laboratory is to provide solutions to the problems encountered in the Internet today, and to make it more influential in future applications.
