Introduction

I am the principal investigator of the CCLAB (Computational Communication Lab). I hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science from National Chiao Tung University and have been dedicated to applying data science methods to explore social science issues. My research focuses on utilizing computer-based techniques such as social network analysis, social simulation, and natural language processing to study various topics in social science and communication. I have in-depth research experience in areas such as opinion analysis, epidemic propagation, information dissemination, digital diplomacy, online communities, ideological polarization, and stereotypes. Additionally, I am interested in issues related to news communication, including the perception and impact of fake news, as well as research on news headlines. As the principal investigator, I am committed to integrating data science and social science to provide innovative insights and solutions for real-world problems.

The Computational Communication Research Lab is a research team dedicated to exploring social science issues through the application of data science methods. The lab's principal investigator holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from National Chiao Tung University and has been utilizing computer-based techniques such as social network analysis, social simulation, and natural language processing to study various topics in social science and communication. Our research scope includes but is not limited to opinion analysis, epidemic propagation, information dissemination, digital diplomacy, online communities, ideological polarization, and stereotypes. Additionally, we also focus on issues in the field of news communication, such as the perception and impact of fake news, as well as research on news headlines.

Research Topics

Our research lab is currently interested in the following topics:

  • Platforms: Twitter and Youtube
  • Computational methods applied to (political) communication and social science, including:
    • Ideology polarization
    • Netizen behaviors
    • Election and advertisement analysis
    • User interaction networks
  • Analysis of news headlines and media representation
  • Study of human dynamics, focusing on:
    • Mobility and its impact on society
    • Time-related aspects, such as lifelogging and quantified self practices

By investigating these areas, utilizing computational methods, and leveraging platforms like Twitter and Youtube, our research lab aims to gain insights into (political) communication, social phenomena, media influence, and human behavior.
