Research Center for Intelligent Medical Devices
Research Field
Professor Kuo-Yung Hung obtained his doctoral degree in Engineering and Systems Science from National Tsing Hua University in 2004. He previously worked in the Liquid Crystal Technology Division of AU Optronics Corporation before joining Ming Chi University of Technology in 2005, where he has been serving as the director of the Research Center for intelligent medical devices since its establishment in 2019. His current research interests include the development of intelligent systems (such as AMR and AOI), medical equipments, and bioactive materials for medical devices.
Professor Hung has a background in Electrical Engineering, MEMS, and Medical Mechatronics. He also holds certifications as a Level B and C Technical Supervisor for Mechatrinics from the Ministry of Labor, and is qualified to supervise technical skills assessments.
Professor Hung has over 30 invention patents and journal publications. In 2012, he received the Outstanding Young Engineering Professor Award from the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineers. He has also led students to win honors such as the Seventh (2011) and Eleventh (2015) Hiwin Machinery Master's Thesis Awards. From 2011 to 2013, his students consistently achieved first, second, and third place in the National Technical College Student Practical Project Competition and Exhibition for three consecutive years.
With a practical research spiritual, Professor Hung has developed Class III medical devices, such as dental implant, assisting manufacturers in obtaining market approval from the Taiwan Ministry of Health and Welfare (2015.1) and the U.S. FDA (2015.6), demonstrating the research team's capability in commercializing advanced medical device. He has also co-authored textbooks such as "Fundamentals of Electronics" and "Electronics (Advanced Applications) (10th Edition)."
The mission of the Intelligent Medical Devices Research Center is to accumulate top-notch and interdisciplinary expertise, produce fruitful results in technology inventions, and promote university-industry research collaboration. We are dedicated to research and development in the fields of preventive medicine and innovative medical materials. Our focus is on product development geared towards commercialization, specifically targeting intelligent systems, 3D printing, medical devices, and bioactive materials.
