Nanophotonics and Nanoelectronics
Research Field
Jia-Han Li received his BS degree in physics and MS degree in electrical engineering from the National Taiwan University in 1995 and 1997, respectively, and his PhD degree in electrical and computer engineering from the Purdue University in 2005, where he studied nanophotonics, including near-field irregular diffractive optical element and plasmonic field enhancements. He joined the faculty of the Department of Engineering Science and Ocean Engineering of National Taiwan University in 2006. He is the Deputy Director of the Radiation Application and Hardness Technology Research Center (RTRC) of NTU since Aug. 2024. He was a visiting scholar at the National Institute for Materials Science, Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan, from Jul. to Oct. 2018, from Jul. to Aug. 2024, and Feb. 2025. He served as the Director of NTU-ITRI Nano Center from Mar. 2017 to Feb. 2023 to connect and link the cooperation between the research teams of the National Taiwan University and Industry Technology Research Institute. He served as the Leader of the Group of Fundamental Optics, Innovative Photonics Advanced Research Center (i-PARC) of NTU from Jan. 2020 to Dec. 2023 to promote research in optics. He also served as the consultant of Daxin Materials Corps. from Oct. 2021 to Oct. 2022 for industrial applications. His current research interests include inspection, radiation, sensing, energy, imaging, lasers, plasmonics, nanolithography, and scientific computation.
The lab focus on the research in using theoretical, numerical, and experimental method for the novel research in the nanophotonics and nanoelectronics from fundamental science to applied engineering problems.
The recent research topics in our lab includes using short-pulse lasers to study the single event effects which can happen on the electronic devices and integrated circuits in space environment, developing the DUV inspection techniques of through silicon vias for 3D IC package, bioengineering for human eyes (glaucoma, intraocular lens, artificial cornea), using image recognition with deep learning for various applications (fuel pool, ocean microplastics, ship, plant), investigating thermally safe operation of multi-gaming-GPU servers, constructing EUV inspection for wafer mask, etc.
