Lab of Oral Biomedical and Signal Analysis
Research Field
Prof. Wei-Jen Chang is a professor in the School of Dentistry at Taipei Medical University and dedicated to fostering international collaboration and advancing global dental education. In addition to his teaching, he has extensive clinical experience at Shuang-Ho Hospital. Prof. Chang's research focuses on areas that are crucial to advancing modern dentistry, including periodontology, implantology, dental biomaterials, tissue engineering, oral embryology and oral diagnostics. He aims to innovate treatments, improve clinical outcomes and develop new materials that enhance patient care in oral healthcare.
The Lab of Oral Biomedical and Signal Analysis is dedicated to advancing the field of oral health through innovative research in biomedical engineering. Our work focuses on the following key areas:
- Developing biomaterials for use in dental applications, including implants and periodontal regeneration.
- Improving the success rates of dental implants through the design of materials and surgical procedure that promote osseointegration.
- Utilizing 3D printing/bioprinting technologies for bone regeneration applications.
- Analyzing the composition of oral microbiota and its impact on oral health in both healthy individuals and those affected by oral diseases, aiming to provide a more holistic approach to diagnosing and treating oral conditions.
- Integrating data from various diagnostic modalities with machine learning and big data approaches to predict disease progression and treatment outcomes.
- Porcine bone grafts, magnesium oxide (MgO), and guided bone regeneration in dental procedures.
- Comparative analysis of oral microbiota and maximum bite force between healthy individuals and those with periodontitis.
- Development of a novel 3D printing bioink loaded with stem cells for bone regeneration.
