His research activities are quite diverse, spanning plasma science & engineering, surface engineering, functional thin films, protective hard coatings, and Plasma Processing Techniques. Besides fundamental research, he is extensively engaged in applied research and industrial applications.
The Plasma and Surface Engineering Laboratory (PSEL) is a multi-disciplinary laboratory that focuses on industry-driven research and education in advanced thin films and coating systems, surface engineering, micro- and nano-mechanical, tribological, and protective materials. The main research focuses on understanding and controlling thin film growth, surface and interface engineering, and the metrology of coating properties for their applications in different areas such as mechanical, aerospace, biomedical, automobile industry, and others.
