Michal N730
Research Field
Michal Kořínek is a Pharmacist (Ms.) graduated at Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy, Czech Republic. He participated in the European cooperative research program ERASMUS at Eastern University in Finland (PharmDr.) and the student exchange program organized by IPSF in Taiwan (community pharmacy). He obtained Ph.D. degree at the Graduate Institute of Natural Products, Kaohsiung Medical University. The research directions include bioactivity-guided extraction, separation, and isolation of immune-modulating components with the aid of bioinformatic tools (molecular docking and networking) aiming to discover new drugs from natural sources.
Our lab focuses on the extraction and isolation of active compounds that contribute to the ’Discovery of active natural products":
- Explore different techniques in natural product extraction, separation, and isolation of pure components, focusing on natural product chemistry.
- Scientifically confirm the composition and traditional use of herbal medicines to treat immune-related diseases (biological experiments done by collaborators).
- Explore the edible and traditional medicinal plant products or waste products for further medical development.
1. Plant material extraction, bioactive fraction separation, and pure compound isolation using various chromatographic techniques (TLC, column chromatography, MPLC, HPLC).
2. Pure compounds structural elucidation (NMR, MS).
3. Utilizing bioinformatic tools (molecular docking and networking) to aid the discovery of new drugs.
We prefer that student works in the wet lab which may enhance the results of current students’ project-related topics or initiate new topics in the field or cross-field.
