Innovative Civil Engineering Materials Laboratory
Research Field
Prof. Wei-Ting Lin is the head of the Department of Civil Engineering at National Ilan University in Taiwan. His research specialties include cement-based composites, geopolymers, cementless binders, 3D printing materials, cement chemistry, and microanalysis. He has published 139 articles (in Scopus) with an H-index of 23 and 1664 citations. He is also the director of the Environmental Education Center at National Ilan University. He promotes research on net-zero carbon emissions, the circular economy and green materials at this center.
National Ilan University (NIU) is a reputed educational institution in Yilan County. Yilan, located in northeastern Taiwan, is well-known as "Taipei's Backyard" for its dedication to environmental care and protection. People in Taiwan always describe Yilan as a place with "beautiful mountains, pure water, and rich culture." Mother Nature has created countless scenes to behold. The main campus is in Yilan City, about 50 minutes from Taipei by car.
Academically, the Department of Civil Engineering at NIU hosts regular workshops and conferences that bring together international scholars. In particular, we have innovative building materials in cementless technology (Geopolymer, Cementless Blended Composites, Alkali Activated Materials), green technology (Waste disposal in Civil Materials, Microstructural Properties in Cementitious Materials) and Durability (Permeability, Corrosion Technology, Measurement Technology in Chloride Diffusion) courses offered, which provide students with more chances to get into the field of 3D printing technology in civil engineering. Nowadays, a noticeable trend of growing energy and materials-related development significantly impacts everyone's daily life. Studying green materials in civil engineering can help promote the quality of human life and make the environment friendly.
Research interests:
- Green materials (uses of by-products, slag, fly ash, silica fume, recycled aggregate, geopolymer, etc.)
- Cementless Blended Materials (Innovative materials for geopolymer without alkali-activator)
- Geopolymer
- Durability
- 3D printing technology in construction materials
- Prof. Wei-Ting Lin is in the world's top 2% of Scientists List in 2022 and 2023.
Education:
- Ph.D. Horbar and River Engineering (01/2009), National Taiwan Ocean University, Taiwan.
