Introduction

Dr. Meng-Lin Tsai joined NTUST since August 2018 as an Assistant Professor. He received his BS degree in 2008 from National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. During his Ph.D. career, he studied the fabrication of single atom tips, designing/maintaining ultrahigh vacuum systems, development of 2D devices, Si-organic hybrid solar cells, Si-based water splitting devices, III-V-based harsh electronics, and low-dimensional photodetectors. He visited King Abdullah University of Science and Technology as a visiting student and received his Ph.D. degree in July 2016. He then worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at National Tsing Hua University from August 2016 to April 2017. He worked in AU Optronics as a senior engineer in the Liquid Crystal Display Array & Cell Design Platform unit from April 2017 to June 2018. After joining NTUST, his main research interests are low-temperature and large-scale growth of 2D materials and synthesis of air-stable inorganic perovskite quantum dots for display applications.

Based on the past experiences in the fabrication of nanomaterial devices including 2D monolayers, 1D nanowires, and 0D quantum dots, we will focus on the development of new types of novel materials such as inorganic perovskite quantum dots, 2D lateral heterojunction devices, and functional core-shell nanowires in the next several years. The research will include material growth/synthesis and characterization, device fabrication, and device measurement/characterization. Our target is to grow high quality materials and develop electronic nanodevices with performance comparable to conventional devices and with mass production possibility.
