On March 1, 1966, the school was officially established as a five-year program, offering mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and industrial management. It admitted its first 300 students that year. In August of the same year, the school added an electrical engineering program, followed by a chemical engineering program the next year. In October of 1970, the school added a two-year mechanical engineering and electronics technology program, and in August of 1992, an information management program was added. In 1982, international trade and enterprise management programs were also added. The school was officially renamed "Minghsin University of Science and Technology" (MUST) that year. The school has been deeply involved in continuing education and has gradually added two-year programs in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electronics, electrical engineering, civil engineering, industrial engineering and management, information management, international trade, and enterprise management since 1971. All these programs admit high school and vocational school graduates. After thirty years of hard work and investment, MUST has gradually developed into a university-level organization.
In July of 1997, with approval from the Ministry of Education, the school was reorganized as "Minghsin Institute of Technology" and included a junior college division. Within four years, the school added hotel business management, early childhood care, leisure business management, and elderly care service management departments, establishing the first service industry college in Taiwan.
In August of 2002, with priority approval from the Ministry of Education, the school was upgraded to "Minghsin University of Science and Technology," and in March of 2019, it was renamed "Minghsin University of Science and Technology, Minghsin School Foundation," reflecting a new development pattern and aiming to cultivate top-notch industry university professional talent in "cross-domain integration, pragmatic innovation, and holistic learning."
In April of 2022, to fully support the Ministry of Education's "Plan to Expand the Recruitment of Overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, and Macau Students and Foreign Students in Key Industries," the school established the "International Extension Department" to expand its international student sources and promote outstanding talents to stay in Taiwan for employment.
In October of 2022, the Ministry of Education approved the "Semiconductor Technology Ph.D. Program," the school's first doctoral program in its 56-year history, marking a new milestone for MUST.
