Welcome to the YHC lab, led by Yue-Hwa Chen, at Taipei Medical University, Taipei, Taiwan.  My laboratory mainly focuses on researches related in the fields of

  • Nutrition
  • Diet and Cancer
  • Nutritional Pharmacology
  • Nutritional Biochemistry
  • Phytochemistry

Research Topics

Our research encompasses several research areas:

1. Phytochemicals and Cancer
The potential protection mechanisms of phytochemicals on xenobiotic metabolism enzymes, apoptosis, inflammation, and angiogenesis, the pathways involved in cancer progression, are studied using animals and cultured cells.
2. Dietary components and Metabolic Diseases
The effects of plant-derived chemicals on obesity, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, osteoporosis, and sarcopenia are investigated. Different inducible animal models, and various types of cultured cells were applied to approach the goals. Through in-depth studies, we aim to uncover the potential of dietary compounds as adjuvant therapeutic agents for metabolic disorders.
3. Non-Nutritive Sweeteners (NNS) and Metabolic Health
We investigate the effects of NNS on metabolic health, focusing on their impacts on energy metabolism, glucose homeostasis, and adipose tissue biology.
