Introduction

Dr. Tsai Hung-Ying is Tsing Hua Chair Professor in the Department of Power Mechanical Engineering at National Tsing Hua University and serves as the Dean of the College of Engineering. Professor Tsai has achieved remarkable accomplishments in academic research and development. He has received numerous prestigious honors, including the Outstanding Research Award from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Young Mechanics Scholar Award from the Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Republic of China, the National Invention Medal, the National Invention and Innovation Award from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, being named one of the Top Ten Outstanding Inventors in Taiwan, and the Innovation Technology Award from the Ministry of Economic Affairs. He has also played important roles in many professional engineering organizations.

In teaching and student mentoring, in addition to receiving multiple outstanding teaching and mentoring awards within the university, Professor Tsai has also been awarded the Outstanding Engineering Professor Award from the Chinese Institute of Engineers, the Outstanding Engineering Professor Award from the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Excellent Teaching Award from the Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan. Moreover, besides his mechanical and electrical engineering expertise, Professor Tsai has personal accomplishments and unique insights in literature, aesthetics, and travel, making him an interdisciplinary educational talent.
